The “spring forward” part of Daylight Savings Time may not be very popular with most of us when it feels like we’ve lost an hour of sleep, but it does mean that spring is just around the corner! Here at Lazy Acres adult community in Belton we try to make the most of every season, but we can’t deny that there’s something particularly inspiring about spring, when all the trees begin to bud, the birds are singing, and flowers are blooming everywhere you look.
Spring means different things for different people, and while we may have some chilly weather still ahead of us, warm temperatures are definitely on their way here in Belton. Of course, there’s always the usual things to do around the house with the changing of the seasons: changing the batteries in your smoke detectors and the filters in your furnace, changing outdoor light bulbs, cleaning ceiling fans. And of course one of the things that everyone associates with spring is spring cleaning. Time to put away those winter blankets and clothes and break out your lighter linens and your spring wardrobe!
At Lazy Acres, many of our residents enjoy gardening. Spring is a perfect time to planet perennials, prune and mulch, and just generally get back to nature and have some fun getting your hands and knees dirty!
Spring isn’t all about chores, though. It’s also a perfect time to get out into the community and have some fun! As the weather starts to warm up and all the flowers begin to bloom, everybody wants to get outside and stretch their legs a bit after being cooped up during the cold winter months. At Lazy Acres adult community in Belton, we’ve got a bunch of great spring activities right on our doorstep. The city of Belton has a 5k run and a parade for St. Patrick’s Day, and we’re just a short drive from a wide range of great Kansas City springtime activities, including Powell Gardens, the Country Club Plaza, and the Starlight Theater, which begins its season in May.
Of course, there are always things to do without leaving Lazy Acres. Spring means the beginning of garage sale season, or you can just take a walk around the neighborhood, catch up with friends, and see what your neighbors are planting. It’s a great time to meet new people at our monthly potluck or one of our weekly get-togethers for Ladies’ Bible Study, Ladies’ Cards and Tea, or billiards, snacks, cards, and board games for the entire community. Or, if the weather is particularly nice, just plan a picnic lunch with your family. Whatever spring means for you, we’ve got you covered at Lazy Acres adult community in Belton!
