Sure, we all love living in Belton, but even we have to admit that summer in Missouri can be rough. That’s why we’re always looking for new ways to beat the heat during the summer months.

Summer will officially be upon us on June 21, but it’s already pretty hot and humid out there. Chances are our residents are already thinking about alternatives to sitting under the A/C at our senior living community in Belton.

You could get a break by visiting an ice cream shop in KC or by going out to any one of the great local theaters to see one of the summer blockbuster movies we are expecting, but one place you might not think to visit is your local library. Libraries are great places to get books to read on a hot summer afternoon, but they’re much more than that, too! Your local library has lots of programs and events that go on all year long, and they offer even more unique programming during the summer months that can help you beat the heat!

Sure, there are fun events such as summer movies and book sales going on at your local library, but that’s not all! Most libraries also offer classes that teach all sorts of new skills. Here in Belton, we’re lucky to be surrounded by lots of great public libraries that offer a wide range of books, movies, programs, classes, and other fun and informative options during the summer and all year long! Here are a few of our favorites.
